Here’s what Erie Hall is like now, after the real terrifying events in Netflix’s True Haunting
Could students still be staying in the room where it all happened!?
James Wan was clearly not content with scaring us all out of our minds with his Saw films and The Conjuring universe – he’s resorted in giving us a new Netflix series based on more true terror. This show is called True Haunting and the five part series blends recreated scenes with a documentary format interviewing the real life people who claim to have experienced these hauntings. The first of these centres on student athlete Chris Di Cesare who, in the 1980s, claims to have experienced a truly terrifying haunting in the ironically named Erie Hall – a student dorms of residence at SUNY Geneseo. Chris has spoken extensively about his time in C2D1 dorm in Erie Hall, both on Netflix True Haunting and beyond – so here’s what the place is like now all these years later.
What actually happened in Erie Hall?
Chris Di Cesare claims in True Haunting that he was haunted and plagued by a violent spirit known as Tommy. When he moved into Erie Hall dorm C2D1 in the 80s, he eventually started hearing a disembodied voice calling his name. Not only was this affecting Chris, but his neighbour Jeff Ungar. The haunting eventually morphed into a full on apparition known as Tommy.
It all started happening after the campus got paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to speak and Lorraine refused to shake Chris’ hand. Chris was then removed from the stage by Ed. 11 days later, weird stuff started happening. In True Haunting, Chris says “I thought, ‘I’m losing my mind,’ ” he recalled. “I couldn’t tell if what I was seeing or hearing was true. I didn’t know if this was reality or if I’m just caught in this never-ending nightmare.”

But then his roommate fled the dorm and said there’s “a dead thing” in there. After trying to contact the ghost to address the situation, Chris claims he came face to face with it. Harrowing. They also got an exorcism after Chris was attacked by the Tommy ghost in the shower and it slashed his back, and eventually the priest came to the dorm.
Chris believes Tommy was Lt Thomas Boyd who was tortured during the revolutionary war right by a tree near campus that Chris ran by. Worse still, it was Chris’ ancestor on his mum’s side who found Thomas ‘Tommy’ Boyd’s body. Creepy.
Is Erie Hall still there?

Via SUNY Geneseo
Erie Hall from True Haunting on Netflix is still in use as of my research at SUNY Geneseo. This means that students could still today be staying in CD21. There have been no more reports of hauntings in the room – but I’ve reached out to SUNY Geneseo for more information.
The Erie Residence Hall got a big refurb in 2008 – so maybe Tommy fled the room with it. You should be safe, for now. But the halls still stand.
True Haunting is available on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news and drops, like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
