Slug & Lettuce Durham unveils new look following six-figure refurbishment

Durham S&L has reopened with a brand new interior

Slug & Lettuce Durham reopened on Friday 19 September following a huge six-figure refurbishment by the Stonegate Group. The bar, located near the city centre, has welcomed guests back with a new design, including a new interior, an updated bar, and other decorations.

Two of us went along to the bar’s official reopening on Friday 19. It was a chance to check out the new furnishings in person and then spend the evening there, seeing what the place is like now it’s back open. After checking out the new interiors and layout, we stayed on to experience the bar as the night picked up.

The makeover introduces a new signage scheme and planter installations, along with a refurbished bar that features arched metal shelving, bronze-tinted mirrors, and illuminated bottle displays. A teal pergola with integrated foliage has been added to the space, complemented by decorative lighting suitable for both day and evening use. Seating has been updated with upholstered furniture in pink, teal, blue, and gold tones.

Before Slug & Lettuce reopened on Friday, General Manager Darren Robson, said: “We can’t wait to reopen and invite everyone back to Slug & Lettuce Durham. It’s always been a favourite spot in the city for 2-for-1 cocktails and nights out with friends, and this investment will make the experience even better. From the new look to the service and events, everything has been designed with our guests in mind – we can’t wait to see you soon!”
