Miley Cyrus reveals the messy reason she stayed with the ‘wrong guys’ for so long

Miley Cyrus has been in a relationship with drummer Maxx Morando for the past four years, but before this, her love life was chaotic. From dating childhood co-star Nick Jonas to a very public divorce with Liam Hemsworth, she’s been through it. In a new interview with her mum and sisters, she reveals why she kept finding herself in bad relationships.

“Mom’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy because they’re hot,” she told The Cut.

Her sisters, musician Noah Cyrus and actress Brandi Cyrus, agreed.

People are connecting the dots and think Miley is talking about her time with Liam.

“Well, that was great advice because after so many years, you’re kind of over it and you’re like, at least you get to look at somebody that’s frigging hot!” Tish, their mum, said.

Tish has been co-managing both Miley and Noah since the beginning of heir careers. Miley has talked about how close they are a lot, including writing a song on her latest album Something Beautiful about their relationship.

“No, I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me. I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way, and then I had to learn the right way by myself,” Miley replied.

Miley and her current boyfriend Maxx have been together since 2021. They met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend and started dating almost immediately after.

“Miley could see a healthy, positive and fruitful life with Maxx,” a source told Us Weekly in 2023.

The singer’s messy on-and-off relationship with Liam Hemsworth lasted 10 years.. They officially got married at the end of 2018 but finalised their divorce just over a year later.

They met on the set of The Last Song in 2009, where they played love interests. In her We Were Young TikTok series,  Miley revealed she knew her relationship with Liam was over at Glastonbury 2019.
