Omg, Tom Holland’s ‘end goal’ is to start a free school that ‘rivals any private school’

He has big plans for his Spider-Man earnings

Tom Holland has a very wholesome plan for the millions he’s made from Marvel movies. The Spider-Man star wants to start a free school that rivals the education at a top private school. Really.

This dream hasn’t entirely come out of nowhere. Tom, his parents and his three brothers already run a charity called The Brothers Trust. The organisation makes grants to lesser-known charities “the world over to reflect Tom’s broad fanbase”. The Brothers Trust organises events involving Tom Holland in order to raise funds, and also “to create memorable and distracting experiences for children suffering with overwhelming physical and mental hardships.”

Tom Holland’s “lifelong goal” is for the Brothers Trust to start up a whole school. He explained to Ladbible: “I have an end goal of what I’d like to do, which is essentially that I’d like to build a school with the best facilities that any school in London can offer, but is totally free and rivals any private school in the country.”

Tom Holland’s school would be aimed at children from families who “might not be able to afford” the eye-watering fees at UK private schools.

As lovely as this idea is, it might be a bit of a challenge to achieve. He has an estimated net worth of $25 million (£18.6 million), and his fiancée (eek!) Zendaya is reportedly sitting on about $30 million (£22.4 million). Obviously, these are huge amounts of money. But Eton College – which is probably the most famous UK private school – had a total expenditure of £111.05 million in the 2023 to 2024 school year. The Brothers Trust would need rather a lot of donations to match that.

Tom Holland did previously share that if his acting career hadn’t taken off, he would have worked in a school. He told People: “I love kids. I can’t wait to be a dad — I can wait and I will, but I can’t wait! If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out. My dad’s been such a great role model for me. I think I’ve got that from him. So I think I’d be a primary school teacher or something like that.”

His family has spoken a lot about the differences between UK private and state schools. Tom Holland was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was seven. His mother worried he wouldn’t get enough support at a state school, so transferred him to the private Donhead Preparatory School in Wimbledon. Tom’s dad, the comedian Dominic Holland, wrote a blog post about how getting “the necessary attention” for Tom’s dyslexia cost “a fortune”.
