Amy was apparently seen in Curaçao weeks after she went missing

Just weeks after Amy went missing, her father Ron and brother Brad returned to Curaçao in an attempt to continue the search. A taxi driver recognised them, and claimed he had seen Amy.

He said it was not long after the ship had docked, and Amy had been running through a car park, trying to find a phone. Brad also said he thought he heard Amy calling out for him. “It ended up just being an old dude by himself,” he said on the Netflix show.

A tourist claimed they spotted Amy in Curaçao, in August 1998

In August 1998, a Canadian tourist called David Carmichael had a possible sighting of Amy Bradley, on a popular Curaçao diving beach known as Playa Porto Marie. He claimed he saw a woman who had the same recognisable tattoos as Amy, with two individuals. Carmichael claimed the woman looked him up and down a few times, and he believed she was trying to communicate with him.

It was also said one of the men looked at him, before ushering the woman believed to be Amy away. “If he had not stared at me, I would have forgotten everything, but I can’t,” Carmichael said on Amy Bradley Is Missing. “I think about this every day. There isn’t a day goes by when I don’t.”

Navy officer Bill Hefner featured in the Netflix series to share his story. He claimed he met a woman in January 1999, at a brothel in Curaçao. The woman identified herself as Amy, and told him she was being held against her will.

“She told me she got off that ship and she left on her own, cause she was going to score drugs,” he claimed. “She said, ‘Well, me and my brother were partying, and I went ashore to get drugs, and now I’m stuck here with these guys.’ ”

The FBI are said to have investigated the claims, but found that the brothel had since burned down. There was therefore no evidence to support the story.
