This terrible error with Toni’s ice lolly is even more evidence Love Island is ‘staged’
It’s so bad
Love Island seems more staged than ever this year, and this awful editing error with Toni’s ice lolly is further proof.
During a recent episode, the American Islander was eating a Twister, which she seemed to demolish in a matter of seconds.
Toni was filmed walking over to the fire pit with Helena while holding the ice lolly, which only had a small bite out of the top. A few seconds later, the Twister was suddenly gone, even though they were still having the same conversation.
On Love Island, it looked like less than a second of time had passed, but it was obviously a lot longer in real life and the producers had got involved in the conversation.
Someone shared the clip on TikTok and wrote: “Can’t just be me that noticed Toni demolish that ice lolly in five seconds.”
“Editing. They have to have the same conversations over and over,” a person replied in the comments.

Another said: “They’ll have been told to stop and start the convo again, it’s edited.”
As it is a TV show, they have to re-film scenes when something didn’t quite go right, like the audio or camera angle. Or if it didn’t feel dramatic enough. It’s a normal part of any reality TV show, but it definitely makes the conversation feel fixed.
In 2022, Love Island denied that the show is scripted, saying: “‘It is absolutely untrue to suggest that Love Island is fake, staged or scripted. The opinions they have and the relationships formed are completely within the control of the Islanders themselves.”
However, they admitted the show is a “combination of reality and produced elements that are reflective of what’s happening in the villa”.
