Witnesses share horror after watching a little girl fall overboard on a Disney cruise ship

Her father jumped off the ship to save her

On Sunday, a frantic rescue mission was launched after a little girl fell overboard a Disney cruise ship and into the Atlantic Ocean while journeying back from the Bahamas.

All the passengers onboard the $900 million Disney Dream listened as the “Mr M.O.B.” alarm was sounded to signal a man overboard. The little girl had fallen from the fourth deck straight into the ocean below, with her father following soon after as he attempted to save her.

Rescue boats were launched in response, but given the ship was travelling at 25mph on its way back to Florida, the father and daughter duo were some distance away from the cruise ship by the time help was able to reach them. They reportedly bobbed in the water for 20 minutes before being rescued, with Disney Cruise Line praising the staff for their quick recovery time.

“The crew aboard the Disney Dream swiftly rescued two guests from the water. We commend our crew members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes,” the company said in a statement.

“We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.”

Other Disney cruise passengers have since come forward, recalling their thoughts from the moment the girl fell overboard.

A little girl fell overboard and her dad jumped overboard to try to save her. Man overboard calls went up immediately.

“The Disney crew went into action asap. Lots of praying folks on this ship! Both the little girl and her dad were both successfully rescued.”
