What we know about Jacky Jhaj, who was charged in connection to Disneyland ‘mock wedding’

A British man called Jacky Jhaj has been arrested in connection to a fake wedding ceremony with a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl at Disneyland. He has been charged with breach of trust, fraud, identity theft and money laundering. Here’s what we know about him.

The entirety of Disneyland Paris was hired out on 22nd June to film a mock wedding. The venue reportedly costs $150,000. Disneyland staff were led to believe the wedding was real. When staff realised the “bride” was a nine-year-old girl and hundreds of extras had been hired, they alerted the police.

He is on the UK sex offenders register

He is 39 years old and from west London. Jacky Jhaj was jailed in 2016 for sexually exploiting two 15-year-old girls, after pretending to be a film producer. He has been on the UK sex offenders register since then. The Metropolitan Police say he is “wanted by the Met Police for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a breach of Sex Offenders’ Register notification requirement. Jhaj spent four years in prison.

Jhaj has set up several productions involving children

According to the BBC, he has arranged productions involving young people over the last few years.

Two months ago, Jhaj hired actors as young as 13 to be mourners at a fake funeral in south Kensington.

In October 2023, he hired approximately 90 children and 100 young women to play his fans at a pretend movie premiere. Some children were as young as six. Teenage girls say they were paid to scream for him and try to touch him.

Last June, he was seen giving children presents at dance auditions for another production.

Videos of these productions were on his YouTube page for several years.
