The Flora

Another student favourite, The Flora’s pub garden remains a solid choice if you want to catch some rays whilst staying in Cathays.

With a variety of seating options, and a pool table too, it is the perfect hang-out spot for you and your friends if you don’t fancy venturing too far. The fairy lights strung above add an inviting atmosphere as well, particularly during those warm summer evenings.

Probably one of the nicest Spoons in Cardiff, The Mount Stuart overlooks the Bay and has gorgeous views of the water and beyond.

Its pub garden, well, not really a garden but a roof terrace, is popular on sunny days. With seats both in the sun and the shade, it provides serene views and cheap drinks, what more could you want?

It might be a bit of a trek to get down there, but it’s certainly worth it.

Brewhouse and Kitchen

Located across Bute Park, in the stylish and residential neighbourhood of Pontcanna, Brewhouse and Kitchen provides a peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of Cathays.

Serving a wide selection of craft beers, their pub garden is one of the most charming in Cardiff. Surrounded by lush greenery, the garden receives ample sunlight in the afternoon, but has areas with shade too.

The lighting overhead gives the garden a warm summer glow during the evenings and is the perfect place to enjoy a drink with friends.

Ok, so this place isn’t technically a pub, but it deserves a place on this list.

Serving coffees during the day and cocktails at night, located on the border of Roath and Cathays, Rhostio has become a staple for students.

Its roof terrace boasts gorgeous views of the city in one direction and valleys in the other and is the perfect place for a drink and a chat in the warmer summer months. Choose from a selection of seats overlooking the city and relax in the sunshine.

Its DJ events are highly popular too, often queuing out the door. This is definitely a wholesome place to go post exam-stress.
