Cassie Venutra describes her experiences of the infamous hotel incident with P Diddy

In May 2024, a video was published in which Sean “Diddy” Combs seemed to attach Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in a hotel. While testifying at Combs’s trial, Ventura went into detail about her experiences of the incident.

The video is surveillance footage from the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles hotel on 5th March 2016. Combs appears to kick, hit and drag Ventura. Combs’s lawyers claim the video was edited, and Combs is innocent of all criminal charges.

Ventura said in court that the incident in the video happened during a “freak-off” party. She claimed that Combs gave her a black eye. Ventura was angry about this, as she planned to attend a film premiere within the next few days. She said she tried to leave the hotel, so Combs rushed out the hotel room in only a towel, and tried to stop her from getting an elevator.

Jurors saw a selfie Ventura took, in which she had a “fat lip” and wore sunglasses to hide her bruised eyes.

A former security guard at the hotel also told the jury he saw Ventura with a “purple eye”.

Ventura said a friend was so concerned by her injuries, they phoned the police. Officers came to Ventura’s apartment, but she didn’t name Combs. She said: “In that moment, I didn’t want to hurt him… I wasn’t ready.”

The jury was also shown text messages between Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie Ventura following the incident in the hotel.
