One week on: How JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes proved to be the real winners of CBB

This season well and truly belonged to them

Despite the fact it was David Platt – sorry, Jack P Shepherd – who won Celebrity Big Brother exactly one week ago, you’d honestly never know it. And that’s not because Jack did absolutely nothing in the house beyond drink tea and go viral for having an absolutely whopping bulge when some footage from the live stream showed him parading around in his boxers. It’s not because Danny Bears should have rightfully won for bringing so much nuanced conversation to the house, along with endless energy and good vibes. It’s actually because JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes and their “soulmate friendship” has absolutely dominated not only the conversation around them two on the show, but every waking moment of the first week out of the house too. With a week of press done and endless viral tweet and speculation, here’s why this last week has proved the real winner of Celebrity Big Brother was that very fascinating friendship between JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes.

Unlikely icons

It has honestly been the most unpredictable thing ever to see JoJo Siwa – a child star who since her dramatic reinvention into adulthood has been pretty much permanently ridiculed for her rebrand – and Chris Hughes, a Love Island lad everyone thinks is lovable but is best known for memes like the “I’m sat” saga and the whole concept of him rapping a bit to lighten the mood. Although, after typing that out, it’s actually quite clear why they had such a great friendship. It’s just two big kids. Who are adults, but barely.

Nobody expected how close the two of them got, and whilst it always read to me as a sibling sort of love rather than anything romantic – the chaos surrounding the pair of them when they were in the house and as soon as they came out of it has inevitably boosted both of their profiles exponentially. But the reason why JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes emerged as a joint real winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2025 is because they actually had the last laugh.

There were a lot of murmurs from inside the house and out of it about how their relationship was insincere. JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes were accused of fabricating the friendship to boost their careers. Whilst to me their dynamic was always clearly genuine, the pair of them shut everyone up over this past week as they were literally inseparable before JoJo Siwa emotionally jetted back to LA – telling the press when she landed that she was not happy to be back in the states.

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes did more than the actual winner of Celebrity Big Brother in their very lovely and very real press tour since leaving the house. Pictures of JoJo out at the pub with Chris and his mates, videos of them playing tennis, it was all glorious. Even when other housemates got interviewed since leaving the house, even the actual winner Jack, they were all asked about JoJo and Chris.

No matter where you sit on the speculation, which obviously reached fever pitch once JoJo Siwa split up with partner Kath Ebbs at the wrap party almost instantly, what’s been amazing to see is how the pair of them haven’t let it faze them in the slightest. They’ve found something so special, and they won the whole show because we all show zero signs of stopping when it comes to lapping up every bit of information that they’re doing.

With Chris Hughes set to go on Celebs Go Dating, I bet E4 are rubbing their hands together with money making glee at the timing. Everyone is going to be seated.
