YOU season five’s deathly fire plot hole is so bad it belongs in fiction – oh wait
I need some explanations
So, YOU season five gave us plenty of shocking moments, but if there’s one thing that had us all scratching our heads (and probably yelling at our screens), it was the fiery episode. Mooney’s bookstore is engulfed in flames, and you’d think that would be the end for a few characters. But nope. Instead, we get some questionable plot holes that defy logic, reality, and, frankly, any knowledge of how fire works.
Here’s why the fire scene in YOU season five is a major plot hole.
Kate dies, then pops back up

via Netflix
Okay, so Kate’s in trouble. Mooney’s is burning down. Bronte checks her pulse, and she’s pronounced dead. But then, plot twist: She’s alive, completely fine, and strolling around as if she didn’t just almost get roasted alive. Yes, she’s got a couple of burn scars on her arm, but no, she isn’t dead. No resurrection, no miraculous explanation, just here she is, alive and kicking.
I mean, fair play, we get that YOU loves its twists, but this one? A little bit too far-fetched.
Bronte turns into a superhuman

Now, we get to the real showstopper: Bronte, carrying Joe out of the fire. Let’s pause for a sec – Joe is barely breathing, covered in blood, and probably weighing a tonne. But Bronte? She’s got no protective gear, no superpowers, yet she somehow manages to drag him through flames and smoke without a single singed hair or a scratch. It’s almost like she was equipped with plot armour instead of fire protection.

The fire is meant to be this huge, dangerous force that’s threatening everyone inside. But somehow, Mooney’s is a giant blaze that doesn’t actually hurt anyone of importance. Kate survives, Bronte escapes without a scratch, and Joe is miraculously carried to safety.
It’s a fire that’s as dramatic as it is selective. It only harms who the plot demands it to.
