More the merrier! All the HUGE celebrities you didn’t know were polyamorous

We all know Will and Jada but there are so many more!

Relationships come in all shapes and sizes, which is why it’s not particularly surprising that some of the world’s biggest celebrities are, or have been, in polyamorous entanglements (Only true ones will get the reference).

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, being polyamorous is described as “having or relating to the practice of having sexual or romantic relationships with two or more people at the same time.” While that definition is nice and concise, as with most things concerning sexuality and matters of the heart, it’s a little bit more complicated than that. Polyamorous relationships are incredibly varied, and the definition differs depending on who you ask.

Nonetheless, without further ado, here are all the major names that subscribe to polyamorous relationships and what they’ve said.

1. Basically the entire Smith clan

Jada Pinkett

I think we’re all just collectively over the drama of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s love life because while they’ve openly discussed their open marriage, they also regularly beef one another and other partners over it.

“The experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love,” Will told GQ in 2021.

Will and Jada aren’t the only polyamorous celebrities in the Smith household, with their daughter Willow also revealing her proclivity for non-monogamy during an episode of the infamous The Red Table Talk.

“With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you,” she explained.

2. RuPaul

RuPaul married long-time partner Georges LeBar in 2017, but their marriage is completely open because, as RuPaul himself put it, “It’s just realistic. There’s no such thing as monogamy with men.”

3. Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau

Bella

In 2019, it came out that Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau were both in a relationship with Avril Lavigne’s future fiancee, Mod Sun, real name Derek Ryan Smith.

“If it works, you can spend a weekend with two people and you’re all hanging out and having fun and smoking, and like, sharing stories up late at night,” she said in a 2019 interview with Cosmopolitan. “It’s a really fun experience and I have been able to capture that a couple times, and I just love that idea. I love loving two people at once.”

Tana later revealed that the relationship started between her and Bella, with Mod Sun later joining and making it an official throuple.

“Being in that relationship taught me so much about myself and polyamory and openness and how close-minded the world can be — and how open-minded the world can be,” she said in a YouTube video.

4. Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley has dated some pretty big names over the years, from baseball stars to fellow actors, but that doesn’t mean she’s always been in monogamous relationships.

“I’m someone who has experienced both an open relationship and a deeply monogamous relationship in my life,” she told The New York Times in 2020.

5. Ne-Yo

Ne-Yo has been open about his non-monogamy for a few years, but he shocked just about everyone earlier this month when he debuted his four girlfriends to the world with their cringy nicknames.

“LADIES AND GENTS I PRESENT MY PYRAMID,” he wrote on Instagram alongside their names: Cristina (Pretty Baby), Arielle (Twin Flame), Moneii (Phoenix Feather), and Bri (Sexy Lil’ Somethin’).

6. Drew Barrymore

She hasn’t spoken about being polyamorous in recent times, but during her relationship with Luke Wilson in 1997, the couple was also dating other people.

“When we first met, we were young and wild. I was dating [Luke], but I think he was also dating other people. Yeah, totally, it was an open relationship, we were young,” she said.

7. Frankie Grande

Ariana Grande’s older brother Frankie has been open and honest about both his sexuality and unique approach to relationships. In 2018, he revealed how he was in a relationship with a married gay couple, telling Access Live: “I was very open to the possibilities of what love looks like, or what love could be, and it just happened.”

The three men went their separate ways in 2019 but it’s not immediately clear whether the married couple are still married.

8. Ezra Miller

During those strange few months when Ezra Miller was the internet’s favourite, you know, before they did those absolutely crazy things, they told Playboy Magazine about their close-knit circle of friends they referred to as a “polycule.”

“I’m trying to find queer beings who understand me as a queer being off the bat, who I make almost a familial connection with, and I feel like I’m married to them 25 lifetimes ago from the moment we meet,” they said. “And then they are in the squad — the polycule. And I know they’re going to love everyone else in the polycule because we’re in the polycule, and we love each other so much.”

9. Kehlani

In 2018, Kehlani said she was a  “lil poly pansexual” on Twitter but didn’t open up more about her viewpoint on relationships until an appearance on The Breakfast Club in 2020. They asked her to respond to the bomb that her boyfriend YG was cheating on her, but she said that wasn’t the case.

“That wasn’t a rule-breaking situation. I just don’t feel like getting online and deeply explaining that that is not a situation that matters to me then I gotta deal with everybody coming at my mentality about an open relationship,” she said.
