Which Uni of York college different rom-com characters would be in
Constantine and Delta Nu are the same place in my opinion…
It’s officially rom-com season! Whether you’re in a long, loving relationship, or you’re single and ready to mingle in Salvos this Valentine’s, everyone loves watching a good rom-com. From Bridget Jones to When Harry Met Sally, there is a rom-com that everyone can relate to in some way.
But, have you ever wondered which Uni of York college certain rom-com characters would be in? I mean, probably not but I’m going to tell you anyway…
Constantine – Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)

Starting off strong with the academic weapon herself, Elle Woods. She would love the vibes of Constantine. Firstly with pink being their college colour, not to mention the distance to the law building, Elle would feel right at home. Constantine just gives off the same feeling as Delta Nu, right? And with the ratio of girls to boys (especially this year in Constantine) it’s definitely feeling a bit like a sorority…
Anne Lister – Lara Jean Covey (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before)

Lara Jean Covey would fit right into Anne Lister. I feel like it suits her personality completely; she is sweet, quirky, and definitely not a party girl, so it only makes sense that she goes to a college that has just as much personality as she does! Lara Jean is known for being quite creative (especially with the decoration and calligraphy on her letters) and Lister’s freshers and refreshers week activities are very arts and craftsy, which she would adore.
Derwent – Daniel Cleaver (Bridget Jones’s Diary)

I’m sorry to anyone in Derwent, but Daniel Cleaver would 100% go to this college. I really think he would love spending time getting pints after pints in Courtyard, as well as the fact that it’s by the English department and he works in a book publishing company. Daniel Cleaver definitely loves a party so where else better to go than the college would the biggest party reputation?!
David Kato – Nick Young (Crazy Rich Asians)

Now, you must be wondering why I haven’t decided to put Nick Young in Constantine or another more expensive college, but it’s because Nick would probably not want to use his family’s money for anything at university and want to make his own way, just like at the start of the film before Rachel knows who he really is. However, he would still choose one of the newer colleges, with his mother insisting that he gets a band 4 ensuite…
Vanbrugh – Kat Stratford (10 Things I Hate About You)

Outspoken and bold Kat Stratford would be a Vanbrugh girl and I’ll tell you why. Firstly, she would spend many nights in V-bar, especially the live music nights, having a few too many drinks. Vanbrugh is also near the History department, and I feel like she would be a history and politics girl, always speaking out for what she believes in. The location right in the heart of Campus West would also enable her to go to and organise protests accompanied by other students. Everyone would know of her and her views, for better or for worse…
Alcuin – Iris Simpkins (The Holiday)

Bubbly, awkward, and fun Iris would love Alcuin. She would fit right in as it is quiet, just like her cottage in Surrey. Also, its location next to the library would be right up her street, as she loves to read and write as a columnist for The Daily Telegraph. The cosy Alcuin Kitchen would be a favourite spot of hers to relax.
Halifax – William Thacker (Notting Hill)

William Thacker running a travel book shop, living quietly in Notting Hill until he accidentally bumps into the biggest movie star in the world, having to go to fancy parts of London to meet with her definitely resonates with people in Halifax. They live in their quiet rooms, but every day have to trek to Campus West or Campus East, where there is the hustle and bustle of life. William Thacker would enjoy the walks to and from Halifax every day, but would also enjoy his separation from the rest of campus and other colleges.
James – Benjamin Barry (How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days)
![](https://cdn.thetab.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/14175529/VS-YouTube-HowtoLoseaGuyin10Days2003OfficialTrailer1-KateHudsonMovieHD-157-e1739555745390.jpg)

Benjamin Barry seems like the type of guy who would love James College. With its proximity to the gym, along with its sporty reputation, he would fit right in with the stereotypical boys in James College. They definitely would egg him on to create such a bet that he did in the film.
Langwith – Julianne Potter (My Best Friend’s Wedding)

To be honest, I’m making this choice purely because of the drama Julie brings. Langwith is the party college, as well as being full of a bit of drama every now and then. And although Julie is a fun person, she does in fact spend an entire film trying to end her best friend’s wedding because she is in love with him… I don’t know I might be biased because I’m in Langwith, but it seems like the type of thing many people I know in this college could do just for the drama of it… Correct me if I’m wrong (I’m not).
Goodricke – Sam Baldwin (Sleepless In Seattle)

Finally, Sam Baldwin. Sam is a very sensible and simple man. He would choose a decent accommodation that has a good community. He mainly would choose it for atmosphere over anything else. He is a family man who looks after his son, so he would go somewhere with a homely atmosphere, just like Goodricke. Let’s see if someone in Goodricke finds their Annie Reed this Valentine’s…
When you watch these rom-coms this Valentine’s, maybe you will see some College stereotypes yourself, and maybe you think my choices are completely wrong… In that case, do not tell me because I stand by my choices completely-ish. Happy Valentine’s Day!
