Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy

It’s finally here! The highly anticipated fourth film in the beloved Bridget Jones series is coming out and can be seen at the Picturehouse from 13 February. Bridget has a new boyfriend… but he’s 20 years younger than her. Eek! What is more romantic than an unconventional love story with iconic rom-com characters? I for one am excited for Leo Woodall, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant to grace our cinema screens again.

Anora

A young sex worker impulsively marries a reckless billionaire oligarch… what could go wrong? The only showing of this film is on 22 February so get your tickets quick.

Casablanca (1942)

Arguably one of the most famous romance films, Casablanca is coming to the Picturehouse for one night only to retell the story of Ilsa and Rick rekindling their connection throughout the hardship of the Second World War. Known for pulling at heartstrings, if you’re someone looking more for heartbreak than heart-thobs, it is one of the best classic films to catch on a big screen this Valentines Day.

Kiss Me Deadly (1955)

Kiss Me Deadly is an American film noir that follows a private investigator in LA who gets involved in a mystery after picking up a female hitchhiker. Sexy and thrilling, this crime film has gone down in history and has only got better with age. You can grab tickets for the 16 February now!

Becoming Led Zeppelin

Something for the music lovers with this one! Becoming Led Zeppelin looks at the beginning of the iconic group and their rise to fame, including some recreations of historical performances. Unlike a few other biopics, this one is told in the band’s own words and is the first official film that has been approved by them.

Macbeth: David Tennant & Cush Jumbo

via Youtube

If Shakespeare is more your thing, David Tennant is back on stage with the iconic Cush Jumbo for a revival of Macbeth. Given five stars by both the Daily Telegraph and Guardian, you’re in for some high-class dramatics from the comfort of a cinema armchair.

Picnic at Hanging Rock

This film is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Set on Valentines Day 1900 at a girls’ private school in Victoria, Australia; some girls mysteriously go missing on a school field trip to Hanging Rock. Where have they gone? You’ll have to grab tickets to find out…

Walk The Line

Could not get enough of Timothee Chalamet’s Bob Dylan? This biopic that looks at the astounding Johnny Cash’s life is returning to our cinema screens on 23 February. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, it is the perfect way to celebrate such a great musician.

RBO: Swan Lake (Captured Live 2024)

via Youtube

If films and theatre are not your vibe, The Royal Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake is coming to our screens for a dazzling but haunting love story between the famous Prince Siegfried and Odette. This is your chance to see the ballet up close and personal for so much cheaper!

You can also catch some other films that have been recently released like A Real Pain, A Complete Unknown and The Brutalist- all of which are set to be award winning. As well as some favourites like Paddington in Peru and Wicked this month too!

Whether you’re planning a film night with your valentine, or are seeking an escape from Valentine’s Day madness, there is something for everyone at the Picturehouse this February!
