Explaining theory Fortnite is bringing back old Battle Passes when Chapter 1 returns next month

Gamers think they’ve found a loophole from Epic Games when OG returns permanently in December

When Epic Games announced last year that Fortnite OG would come back to the game for a month of nostalgia, everyone was obviously overjoyed. So many gamers have core memories with that original island from all those years back, and it was a great month of reliving it. This year, we got Chapter 2 Remix – enjoying a month back on THAT island – but it was inevitable the Chapter 1 island would return again in the future too, considering Fortnite scored its highest ever playing count when it came back during December of last year. Everyone was shocked to see the game announced recently that Chapter 1 would be returning to Fortnite as a permanent game mode when Chapter 6 kicks off next month, and now there’s a theory that cosmetics from the Battle Pass will be coming with it. Here’s the theory in full.

Because Fortnite is advertising  this return directly as Chapter 1 Season 1, fans think that old cosmetics from those chapters will also be able to be brought back with the OG mode – meaning fans could potentially get their hands on cosmetics previously locked away behind the season.

Fortnite announced in August that going forward, Battle Pass cosmetics could return to the shop 18 months after the season ends to be resold – unlocking them from the constraints of grinding to complete the Battle Pass in that time. This also would free up collab skins locked behind Battle Passes, like Peter Griffin from Family Guy.

One tweet explained the announcement of Fortnite Chapter 1 returning maybe including a Battle Pass return with a very handy list of evidence pointing towards the theory being accurate.

The viral tweet has millions of views and says “Battle Passes can only be earned within their season” – whilst pointing out the details that all the seasons are returning, Battle Pass images in the shop have been updated and Epic have moved old Battle Pass images into a folder called ‘Office Catalog’
