Ew, the Squid Game director was so stressed during filming that he lost nine teeth?!

He revealed some juicy gossip from behind the scenes

It’s almost a month until the second season of Netflix’s hit series Squid Game comes out, and the show’s director has just revealed a very shocking detail about season one.

During filming, Hwang Dong-hyuk, who wrote the story in 2008 and waited over a decade for Squid Game to be produced, lost NINE teeth.

In a startling new interview with the BBC, the interviewer said: “I read that you were so stressed during the first series of Squid Game that you lost six teeth.”

He shockingly corrected her, saying it was actually “eight or nine teeth” – and they really did fall out due to the stress of filming.

This made the director adamant that he didn’t want to film a second series, but he later changed his mind for one reason. The cash.

When asked why he decided to do a second series, Dong-hyuk simply replied: “Money.”

“Even though season one was such a huge success, the system means that honestly, I didn’t make much,” he explained.

“So I had to do season two to help compensate me for series one as well. Honestly, that was one of the big reasons why.”

Squid Game was viewed for 1.65 billion hours in its first 28 days, making it the most-watched show in Netflix history.

It was the biggest programme ever in 94 countries, so it’s hard to believe that the director hardly made any cash from it.

After trying to get the show filmed for over 10 years, Hwang got next to nothing, while Netflix raked in almost $900 million, Business Insider reveals.

He added that he also “didn’t fully finish the story” in the first series.

Squid Game follows 456 cash-strapped contestants in South Korea who compete in basic children’s games for a huge cash prize, but the stakes are deadly.

After more than three years, season two is set to arrive on Netflix on 26 December, when the winner of the Squid Game will seek to put an end to the sport.

It’s set three years after the first season, and Gi-hun is determined to hunt down the people behind the game. Will he find them?
