The world of UK politics continued to give soap opera level drama this weekend when former First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, was arrested and questioned by detectives investigating allegations of financial misconduct (£600,000 worth of donations intended for an independence campaign have allegedly been misspent) by the Scottish National Party.

And, as much as potentially dishonest politicians allegedly misspending funds is absolutely no joke, we’ve been in our if-you-don’t-laugh-you’ll-cry era of politics as a nation since at least 2016.
