Celebs snogging and $64 burritos: Every bit of juicy gossip from Coachella weekend one
Justin Bieber has been letting LOOSE
With plenty of cowboy boots and crochet co-ord outfits, Coachella burst back onto literally everyone’s Instagram timelines this weekend. And, after just 48 hours of every influencer worth knowing about congregating in the Colorado Desert— there’s already been plenty of drama.
We’re talking reunited celebrity exes, robberies in the Sahara Tent and headliner sets closing early. Genuinley, so much has happened we’ve got no choice but to do a roundup. Here’s exactly what went down:
Non-influencer attendees reveal lunch costs $64
A large proportion of the crowds attending Coachella every year have food, drinks, travel and more comped as they’re guests of whichever brand is hosting hordes of content creators at the festival that season. But, despite what we see from those few on social media, the weekend might not be quite so dreamy for the everyman.
“Capitalism really popped off today,” wrote one TikTok user Jackie Tanti as she revealed the lunch she bought her and her friend (two lattes and two burritos) cost a total of $64 (the equivalent of £51). Ouch.
@jackietanti the shittiest part of coachella 🙃😵💫
Loren Gray calls out influencers faking festival attendance
It turns out there could be a reason we see so much influencer content from Coachella as TikTokker Loren Grey claimed in a video this weekend that loads of content creators drive out to the desert to take photos— rather than paying the $549 (£441) to actually attend the festival.
“They just drive their little butts out to the desert to take Instagram photos, make TikToks, get ready with me’s, whatever,” Loren said in the video. “Then they drive back, and that’s it.” Fun!
@lorengray here to validate ur fomo 🤞🏼😽💌
Camilla Cabello and Shawn Mendes are spotted snogging
Most Read
Everyone was shaken to their core on Saturday night when videos of Camilla Cabello and Shaun Mendes kissing in a crowd at Coachella emerged online a year after they’d broken up. There truly is nothing like a comeback. And if there’s one thing we know about these two, it’s that they really, really, love PDA.

Noah Beck and Dixie D’Amelio are seen reuniting
Obviously, there was something in the air at Coachella weekend one as Noah Beck and Dixie D’Amelio were also seen together for the first time since their split and fans think there were serious vibes when they hugged. No kissing pics confirming rekindling though, alas.

James Charles and ’50 other people’ have their phones stolen
In the biggest influencer tragedy since Fyre Festival in 2017, James Charles and numerous other creators had their phones stolen in Coachella’s Sahara Tent on Saturday night, leaving them unable to film Get Ready With Me Content on Sunday morning.
“I spent my entire morning at AT&T with about 50 other people who also got their phones fucking stolen,” said James with devastation as filmed his GRWM with his “makeup already done!” hours later.

Justin Bieber escaping the constraints of the VIP area
If anyone has ever looked on at a VIP area over the barrier that keeps normal people from the elite, you’ll notice they often look really, really, dull. And Justin Bieber clearly decided enough was enough on Saturday night when he escaped to the standard dance floor, much to the surprise of this TikTok user who was dozing off:

Frank Ocean arrived an hour late and ended his set early
After a seven-year hiatus from the stage, Frank Ocean’s Coachella set was, for many, the highlight of the weekend. But people both at home and in the crowd were left disappointed on Sunday night after Frank arrived late to his performance and the live stream was cancelled. Those in the crowd also claimed on TikTok he hardly moved from the back of the stage, stayed silent for long periods, and that he’d cancelled his figure skating stage performers last minute.
During the performance Frank gave an emotional speech about his brother’s death three years ago, saying: “My brother and I came to this festival a lot…I felt like I was dragged out here half the time because I hated the dust…I know he would’ve been so excited to be here with all of us” before he brought the set to a close early because of the festival’s curfew.
