Buildings evacuated and police present on Bournemouth University campus

Police responded to a call about a ‘malicious online communication’

A police presence has been seen on Bournemouth University campus this afternoon.

Students have reported Poole House and SUBU building evacuated. Initial rumours of a suspected knifeman on campus were proved incorrect as Dorset Police confirmed it responded to a call about a “malicious online communication”.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth University said: “Due to a safety concern we have had to close some of the lecture theatres in and adjacent to Poole House for the rest of the day. All other buildings on campus remain open.”
