YUSU ratifies anti-abortion society

It’s causing quite a stir

It has been discovered YUSU has ratified a pro-life society.

Pro-life supporters condemn abortion on the grounds that a foetus of any level of development is still human, and that abortion is murder.

The University of York was ranked as a ‘green’ university in a new study concerning freedom of speech, meaning it has ‘no restricted or regulated speech and expression.’

But despite the uni having no restrictions on free speech, many students have been quick to show their concern and upset about this new society.

Izzy Lomas, the chair of the Feminist Society, says:

“Access to abortion is a fundamental right that should be available to everyone, and any attempt to interfere that does nothing but endanger the lives of women.

“The presence of a pro life society on campus is very concerning.”

Second year and LGBTQ Officer Candidate, Evie Paffard, said:

““I find it deeply troubling that vulnerable students are likely to be targeted.

“It is my firm belief that if a woman wants to have an abortion then she deserves a safe procedure regardless of her situation.

“In other words, if you don’t like abortion then don’t have one. Don’t shame others for making valid choices about their own bodies.”
