These York College students got accepted to Oxbridge

And you didn’t

Four brainy York College students have received offers from Oxford or Cambridge.

They are the lucky four of a sizeable 1000 students who sent off their UCAS forms from York College this year.

The four lucky students

Amy-May Dicks has been offered a place to study Medicine at University College, Oxford. Rachael Hodgson will hopefully be attending Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, to study English. Luca Wollny will be studying PPE at Harris Manchester College, Oxford, and Freya Marshall Payne will be reading History at Somerville College, Oxford.

One York student said: “I think it’s pretty cool. I wish I was that clever.”

But another disagreed: “Well done, and all, but just stay in the North.”

York College has around 13,000 students

York College is the biggest provider of students to university in the region.

Miggy Biller, the co-ordinator of Oxbridge applications at the college, said: ‘We encourage all high-flying students to apply to the very top universities.”

An admirable achievement, despite having to leave arguably the best city in England.
