Stirling “unlawfully docked money” from staff

UCU slams uni and asks Principal Gerry McCormac for money back

Stirling Uni bosses have been slammed by staff for “unlawfully” taking money off their salaries.

The University & Colleges Union – who accepted a 2% pay rise and called off their marking boycott – say that taking a full day’s pay off people who went on strike for just two hours is unlawful. Stirling Uni have decided to do it anyway.

Stirling staff went on strike several times this academic year

Dundee University, one of the other unis on the UCU’s shit-list, defended their decision by pointing out that the money taken from striking staff was put back into a student hardship fund.

According to our interview with UCU mascot Loki the dog, Stirling’s UCU asked our fatcat Principal to do what Dundee bosses had done – “but he refused and just gathered some additional profit.”

If uni bosses can say no to this cute chap, what chance do lecturers have?

Previously our Principal, Gerry McCormac, has been criticised for taking a pay rise and refurbishing his luxury pad when 17 staff got sacked.

UCU’s Scotland official Mary Senior said: “To be treated so poorly by your employer leaves an incredibly bitter taste in the mouth.”
