How old the Bridgerton characters are in season three, compared to the actors who play them
Still shook at Nicola Coughlan being 37?!
Remember a few weeks ago when everyone was SHOOK at Nicola Coughlan actually being 37 despite being exceptional at playing teenagers? Well, Bridgerton season three is finally out and given that Penelope is supposed to be 19 in this season, it’s no exception.
But, as well as them all having the most insane glow-ups (seriously, what is in the Bridgerton set water??) a lot of the other cast members have huge age gaps between them in real life and other characters they’re playing.
So here are all the ages of the Bridgerton characters in season three, compared to how old the cast members are in real life:
Colin – Luke Newton
Now we’re finally onto his season, Colin is supposed to be 24 in the show, as the third oldest Bridgerton brother. But in real life Luke Newton is 31 and 30 during the filming of Bridgerton season three.
Penelope – Nicola Coughlan
The one that had everyone SHOOK recently. Penelope Featherington is 19 in the show but in real life, Nicola Coughlan is 37. She had her 37th birthday whilst filming Bridgerton season three. But Nicola has been playing a teenager since 2018 with her role as Clare in Derry Girls.
Anthony – Jonathan Bailey
The oldest Bridgerton brother, Anthony is 32 during season three. But Jonathan Bailey is now 36, four years older than his character. His birthday was in April.
Kate – Simone Ashley
Most Read
Newly married to Anthony, Kate Bridgerton (previously Sharma) is 27 as she enjoyed married life in season three. But in real life, Simone Ashley is 29.
Benedict – Luke Thompson
Netflix skipped through Benedict’s story for season three but his character still appears in the series and he’s 29 in the show. But Luke Thompson is currently six years older than his character at 35.
Eloise – Claudia Jessie
Eloise Bridgerton is supposed to be 19 years old during season three. But in real life, Claudia Jessie is actually 34.
Francesca – Hannah Dodd
We see Francesca’s debut into society this season, at age 18. Hannah Dodd who was recast as the fifth youngest Bridgerton for this season is actually 28, a full decade older than her character.
Violet – Ruth Gemmell
We got a glimpse of a young Violet Bridgerton in Queen Charlotte but by the time of season three, the matriarch of the Bridgerton family is 49. In real life, Ruth Gemmell is actually 56.
Queen Charlotte – Golda Rosheuvel
So obviously, Queen Charlotte is a real historical figure. So in 1815 when the show is set, she is 71 years old. But Golda Rosheuvel who plays her is actually a lot younger, aged 54.
Hyancinth – Florence Hunt
She might be the youngest Bridgerton, but she is looking SO GROWN up this season. In the show, Hycanith is 12 by season by season three. But in real life, Florence Huint is actually 16.
Gregory – Will Tilston
Another one who is a fully grown ADULT now this season, Gregory Bridgerton is now 15 in the show. In real life, Will Tilston is two years older, at age 17.
Daphne – Phoebe Dynevor
Our queen Daphne is sadly not in this season as Phoebe Dynevor revealed that she thinks her story arc is down. But if she was to be in season three, Daphne Bridgerton (or Basset now!) would be 23. In real life, Phoebe Dynevor is now 29 as of April.
Lady Danbury – Adjoa Andoh
Lady Danbury’s exact age isn’t actually known, but she is believed to be anywhere between 60 and 70. But in real life, Adjoa Andoh is 60.
