Blundering traveller breaks fire alarm, causing Manchester airport to evacuate
Ben MarshallA dimwitted passenger accidentally caused an evacuation of Manchester airport on Monday morning.
The hapless holidaymaker apparently smashed the glass of an emergency alarm in Terminal 2, causing an evacuation of the terminal and surrounding buildings.
A spokesman for the airport said: “Due to an accidental passenger action, a fire alarm was set off in Terminal Two this morning. It led to a minor scale evacuation of a small part of the terminal for ten minutes. No flights were delayed or affected.”
The disruption left travellers angry, with one tweeting:

Luckily, the incident only lasted 30 minutes before people could continue their journeys.
Innocent enough mistake, but of all the places to set off an alarm…
