Three men from Manchester have been arrested for their involvement in an illegal drugs website.

The suspects all had roles in the Silk Road marketplace, a black market website that sold a massive range of illegal substances.

All the Mancs are in their 20’s, while a fourth suspect in his 50’s was in Devon.

“These arrests are just the start — there are many more to come”, said National Crime Agency boss Keith Bristow.

Silk Road used a virtual currency called bitcoin for users to buy drugs – one bitcoin was worth about £88.

The site was formed in 2011, and was closed by the FBI earlier this month after its founder was arrested in the US.

But reports suggest that a new version of the marketplace could be due to launch very soon.
