Loughborough University would have finished 10th place in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games if it was its own country. This would have been ahead of Jamaica and Kenya.

Loughborough athletes won a total of 30 medals from more than 85 students, alumni and campus-based athletes who competed in seven sports for nine countries.

In a statement from the University, VC Professor Robert Allison commented how, "We are all incredibly proud of every single one of our athletes who competed in the Commonwealth Games. Years of commitment, dedication, sacrifice and training go into making an elite athlete, and to even be selected to compete is a huge achievement."
