Sebastian Coe has been named Loughborough’s new Chancellor

Lord Coe is an ex-Luff student and sporting champion


Lord Sebastian Coe has been announced as Loughborough’s new Chancellor.

Lord Coe is a Luff alumni who graduated in 1979 with a BSC in Economics and Social History. He is also one of the world’s most prestigious sportsmen.

Lord Coe has a massive sporting history with him setting 12 world records at the 1980 Moscow Olympics through his athletic abilities.

Lord Coe also worked hard to get the Olympics in London in 2012 and he was on the Organising Committee for the Games. He also played a significant role in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games by being Chairman of the British Olympic Committee in which Britain had a large medal success.

The Chancellor has the role of the chief ambassador of the University and also gives us our degrees.

Lord Coe will officially start as the University’s Chancellor at the summer graduation ceremonies in July.
