The Toff League – how privileged is your hall?

Catered or Self-Catered? Who cares – the butler will see to it

Yeah, you guessed it – Elvyn, the royalty of campus is the most privileged.

Currently 38 per cent of freshers living in the catered, £6,380.01 a year hall come from private schools. But does this surprise you? Probably not.

In a Freedom of Information request submitted to the university, The Epinal discovered the percentage of privately educated students within each hall.

While the Kings and Queens of Elvyn top the Toff league, Harry French prop it up, with only 5.4% of students attending an independent school.

Students in Harry French pay only £3,663.66 for a standard room.

Surprisingly, the likes of Towers 34 per cent, Faraday 26 per cent and Cayley 21 per cent rank in the top four. It appears that the snobs among us prefer catered living. Whilst self-catered halls like rowdy Bill-Mo 11 per cent and the wild Falk-Egg 9 per cent show the lowest figures.

Telford, the Manchester City of halls recently received a huge influx of residents and cash, both of which are state-educated. Privately educated students make up the minority in Telford, with only 8.5 per cent of freshers receiving private education.
