Leeds is getting an indoor ice rink

What an ice surprise

Leeds will soon be host to a swanky new indoor ice rink.

The Silver Blades ice rink will be located next to Leeds United’s Elland Road ground.

Work was due to begin last year however due to a number of ground condition problems the building was delayed.

Managing director Mark Johnson told the YEP: “The issues had now been resolved.  With any project like this, the biggest issue is the ground conditions.

“Once work on the building was under way, the job could be finished in just 30 weeks.”

The size of the rink will include 1500 seat and most of the schedule will be made up of public skating sessions, but could also be home to an ice hockey team.

The ice plan gained approval after the popularity of the temporary Ice Cube outdoor rink in Millennium Square every winter.
