Edinburgh University fifth best in UK and best in Scotland in Times World University Rankings

Edinburgh ranked 29th overall in the world

The Times World University Rankings 2023 have been released and Edinburgh has ranked 29th overall, whilst also being the highest-ranked university in Scotland.

It’s the first time since 2020 that the university has moved up a place, going from 30th from 2020 to 2022, to 29th.

Edinburgh was ranked higher than other prestigious universities such as LSE and King’s College London, and is currently the fifth best university in the UK.

Edinburgh also scored significantly higher than any other Scottish university, with Glasgow taking 82nd place, Aberdeen 192nd, and both Dundee and St Andrews not even making the top 200.

Overall Edinburgh scored 79.8 per cent, 66.9 per cent in teaching, 74.5 per cent in research, 97.1 per cent in citations, 95.6 per cent in international outlook but only 40.9 per cent in industry income.
