This Is Us where are the cast now

From Randall to Kevin: What all of the This Is Us cast members are up to now

Major spoilers ahead

Drama series This Is Us aired from 2016 until 2022, focusing on the lives of triplets Kevin, Kate, and Randall Pearson and their parents, Jack and Rebecca. The show captivated audiences through its inventive use of flashbacks and flashforwards to tell the story of the Pearson family across the generations. Plus, obviously, it had us all sobbing throughout every episode.

After 106 episodes the show (sob) came to an emotional close in May 2022 – so here’s what the cast have been up to since, including Oscar nominations and marriages. Be warned if you haven’t finished the show, there are spoilers ahead:

Milo Ventimiglia

This Is Us: Milo Ventimiglia, creator on Super Bowl death, what's next for Jack

Milo played Jack Pearson, who died before the start of the series but was still a very prominent character. His marriage, experience as a father, and his struggles with alcohol were all covered heavily in flashbacks, making him an integral part of the show right up until the very end.

He was played by Milo Ventimiglia (you may also recognise him as Jess Mariano from Gilmore Girls), who has since appeared in a few episodes of comedy-drama show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He also starred as a con man in drama series The Company You Keep last year, as well as serving as an executive producer.

Although the show was cancelled, it’s not all bad as Milo got married last year to model Jarah Mariano in a very low-key ceremony. It’s certainly a spooky coincidence that she shares her last name with Milo’s Gilmore Girls character.

Mandy Moore

Rebecca Pearson was arguably the series’ most important character, tying all the storylines together. Her illness and eventual death was a big part of the final series, acted to perfection by Mandy Moore – also known for being the voice of Rapunzel, her role in the iconic film The Princess Diaries and her singing career.

Mandy released her seventh album, In Real Life, in May 2022. The music video for the lead single featured cameos from many This Is Us cast members and came out a couple of months before the series finale. She is currently starring in true crime anthology show Dr Death, joining in season 2 as the character Benita Alexander.

Justin Hartley

Who Is Justin Hartley From This Is Us? | NBC Insider

Justin played the first of the Pearson triplets, Kevin. Over the course of the show we see his attempt to develop his acting career, struggles with addiction, and tumultuous love life. By the end of the show he has started a housing company and reconciled with his ex-wife. Safe to say he’s in a much better place to how he started the show, walking out on his role in a long-running sitcom.

Since This Is Us, he has guest-starred in sci-fi show Quantum Leap and will appear in action comedy Bride Hard alongside Pitch Perfect alums Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp. Additionally, he is currently producing and starring as Colter Shaw in the show Tracker, which premiered last month and has already been renewed for a second series.

Chrissy Metz

Kate Pearson from This Is Us | CharacTour

Now for the second of the triplets. Chrissy played Kate, who starts the series as her brother’s PA. Her storylines include her struggle with her weight, complex relationship with her mother Rebecca, and her relationship with Toby. She ends the show teaching at a music school for the blind, and vowing to her brothers that they won’t drift apart in the wake of their mother’s death.

Chrissy hasn’t been in much since then, although she was recently joined the cast of The Hunting Wives, a drama series based on May Cobb’s novel. Principal photography began earlier this month, so we can expect to see this hitting our screens soon enough.

Sterling K. Brown

What Is Randall Pearson's Job on This Is Us? A Career Recap | NBC Insider

The last of the triplets, Sterling played Randall Pearson, who was adopted after being abandoned at a fire station by his father, William. His storylines across the series focus on his relationship with his siblings, him and his wife choosing to foster a child, and his complex relationship with his estranged father. By the end of the series his career as a politician has skyrocketed and he is planning a presidential campaign in one of the final flashforwards.

Similarly, Sterling’s acting career has reached new heights. He starred in 2023 comedy-drama film American Fiction as Cliff Ellison, the brother of main character Monk. For this he was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category at the Oscars a couple of weeks ago. Though he ultimately lost to Robert Downey Jr, the film still did well and even picked up a win for Best Adapted Screenplay.

We can expect to see Sterling starring opposite JLO and Simu Liu in sci-fi thriller Atlas, coming out in May, as well as in a main role in upcoming Hulu series Washington Black.

Susan Kelechi Watson

Beth Pearson from This Is Us | CharacTour

Susan played Beth Pearson, the poised and elegant wife of Randall. Their marriage was a key part of the series, with Beth’s experience in the dance world being the subject of one of the final season’s episodes.

While she hasn’t appeared on our screens since the show wrapped up, Susan has appeared in a production of The Merry Wives of Windsor in NYC and in the London production of Eureka Day, alongside Helen Hunt.

Chris Sullivan

Toby Damon from This Is Us | CharacTour

Chris Sullivan portrayed Toby Damon, who meets Kate at the beginning of the series. Though their rocky relationship doesn’t work out in the end, they are still able to rely on each other and support their son.

Chris is appearing in two upcoming films this year, the first being psychological thriller Presence (alongside icons Lucy Liu and Julia Fox) and the second being Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 childhood staple. Living the dream.

Ron Cephas Jones

This Photo Of William From 'This Is Us' Season 3 May Mean A Huge Twist Is Coming

Ron Cephas Jones played William Hill, Randall’s biological father. William passes away in the first season of the show, after connecting with his son and grandchildren, yet continued to appear in flashbacks throughout the rest of the series, remaining present until the very end.

Sadly, Ron Cephas Jones passed away in August of last year at the age of 66, from a long-standing pulmonary issue, and was honoured in the In Memoriam section of this year’s Oscars. His fellow cast members also paid tribute to him online, describing him as ‘pure magic as a human and an artist’.

Jon Huertas

How the

Jon played Miguel Rivas – Jack’s best friend who eventually becomes Rebecca’s second husband. His strained relationship with his step-children, particularly Kevin, were key to his storyline. Like Beth, Miguel also had an episode devoted his backstory in season 6, ending in an emotional flashforward to his death.

While he hasn’t been doing much acting, he has directed episodes for both police procedural series The Rookie: Feds and drama show The Company You Keep – which starred his on-screen best friend, Milo Ventimiglia!

Alexandra Breckenridge

This Is Us' Kevin Pearson, Sophie Inman's Relationship Timeline | Us Weekly

Alexandra played Sophie Inman, Kevin’s first love and ex-wife, and Kate’s former best friend. Her relationship with Kevin is on and off throughout the series, with her constantly being afraid he hasn’t changed from his old, reckless ways.

Since 2019 she has starred in the Netflix show Virgin River as Mel Monroe, who moves to a small California town for a fresh start as a midwife. The show was renewed for a sixth season last year, so we can expect to see Alexandra on our screens again soon.

Eris Baker

This Is Us' Eris Baker: Tess Is a 'Beautiful, Strong' Black Queer Woman

Eris played Tess Pearson, one of Randall’s daughters, whose storylines focused on her coming out as LGBT and anxieties over the stability of her family. Since the show ended she has appeared in the short film A Real One, and is currently enrolled in the USC School of Cinematic Arts. This is one of the US’ best film schools and naturally has a very impressive alumni list, so it’s very likely we’ll be seeing more of Eris.

Faithe Herman

This Is Us: Lyric Ross, Eris Baker and Faithe Herman | Television Academy

Now for Annie Pearson, another of Randall’s daughters, played by Faithe Herman. Aside from This Is Us, Faithe is known for her roles in Shazam! and its sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was released last year. She plays Darla Dudley, the foster sister of the main character Billy.

Lyric Ross

Who Is the Father of Déja Pearson's Baby on 'This Is Us'?

Lyric’s character, Deja, is fostered and adopted by Randall and Beth after first appearing in season 2. Her relationship with her adoptive family is strained at times, she eventually comes to love and appreciate them. She ends the series expecting a child, who she decides to name William, after Randall’s biological father.

While Lyric hasn’t appeared in much since this, she can be spotted in upcoming Marvel series Ironheart as Natalie Washington. The series will premiere in 2025 and also star Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos.
