Here’s where you recognise the cast of Netflix’s Persuasion from

Persuasion has finally dropped on Netflix, adapted from the famous Jane Austen novel. The trailer dropped last month and offered the hopes of filling the Bridgerton shaped hole in our hearts. The films follows the story of Anne Elliot and her love story with Frederick Wentworth, and the director has taken a modern approach to the remake. The cast is filled with some very famous faces to say the least, and some that you may not be able to quite place your finger on where you recognise them from.

Here is where you recognise the cast of new Netflix period drama Persuasion from.

Dakota Johnson – Anne Elliot

Dakota Johnson plays the lead in Persuasion as Anne Elliot, who in the film is “pining after a lost love”. Dakota Johnson is well known for her breakout role in the Fifty Shades of Grey films as Anastasia Steele. She has recently starred alongside Olivia Coleman in the Netflix psychological drama The Lost Daughter. She has starred in a string of romantic comedies including How to Be Single.

She has some *pretty* famous familial connections to Hollywood with her parents being Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

Cosmo Jarvis – Frederick Wentworth

Cosmo is the other protagonist in the film, Captain Frederick Wentworth. His character is described as “the object of Anne’s affections”, and stumbles back into her life after she had broken up with him.

In season five of Peaky Blinders, Cosmo played Barney Thompson, one of Tommy Shelby’s old warm comrade, but he was killed off in the season finale. He has starred in 2016’s Lady Macbeth and string of action and horror films including Annihilation alongside Natalie Portman.

Henry Golding – Mr. William Elliot

Henry Golding, the actor everyone is elated to see no matter what role he plays. Henry is playing the role of William who is Anne’s cousin and possible suitor. Golding made his splash in Hollywood after starring in Crazy Rich Asians and has not slowed down one bit. Since his breakout role, he has gone to star in The Gentlemen, Last Christmas and the latest instalment of the G.I. Joe films.

Richard E. Grant – Sir Walter Elliot

Acting legend Richard E. Grant plays Anne’s “incredibly narcissistic” father, Walter Elliot. Richard is very well known in the acting world and has starred in the likes of Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and The Iron Lady. He recently starred in the musical movie adaptation of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie as Hugo Battersby.

Nikki Amuka-Bird – Lady Russell

Lady Russell is played by Nikki Amuka-Bird and is the best friend of Anne’s late mother. Nikki has starred in an array of different drama and thriller films. Most recently she played the role of Violet in the thriller, The Outfit, alongside Zoey Deutch and Dylan O’Brien. She has also starred in Small Island, The Children Act and The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Mia McKenna-Bruce – Mary Elliot

Mia McKenna-Bruce began acting from an early age and is well known for her role as Tee Taylor in Tracy Beaker Returns and The Dumping Ground. Mia plays the role of Mary Elliot who is Anne’s “vain and highly strung” younger sister. She has also starred in the BBC series Get Even and Netflix’s The Witcher.

Ben Bailey-Smith – Charles Musgrove

Charles is married to Anne’s younger sister Mary, although he would have preferred to marry Anne instead. Ben Bailey-Smith, better known by his stage name Doc Brown has starred in multiple TV shows and films. He is well known for his role as Nathan in CBBC’s 4 O’Clock Club, and has also appeared in The Split and Amazon’s Cinderella.

Nia Towle – Louisa Musgrove

Nia Towle plays Charles’ sister who gets along with Anne. This is Nia’s first main role but she previously had a small part in Rocketman.

Izuka Hoyle – Henrietta Musgrove

Henrietta Musgrove is Charles’ other “fun-loving” sister who also gets along well with Anne. Izuka made her professional debut in theatre for playing the role of Catherine Parr in Six the Musical. She has gone onto star in Mary Queen of Scots alongside Margot Robbie and has most recently starred in the Channel 4 series Big Boys.

Yolanda Kettle – Elizabeth Elliot

Yolanda plays Anne’s elder sister, Elizabeth, who takes after their vain father. Yolanda made her film debut in Made in Italy and is well known for her role as Camilla Fry in The Crown. She has also starred in Marcella and Howards End.

Lydia Rose Bewley – Penelope Clay

One of Anne’s friends in the movie is Penelope Clay who is played by Lydia Rose Bewley. Lydia is best known for playing Jane in the first and second Inbetweeners movies. She has also starred in Plebs and Drifters.
