Netflix’s Persuasion is about to fill the Bridgerton shaped hole in your heart

This is your one month warning!!

Netflix has dropped the trailer for its new movie based off Jane Austen’s classic novel, Persuasion. The movie features Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding and Cosmo Jarvis. This period drama is about to fill the Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma hole you have shaped in your heart, in all but one month.

Persuasion is Jane Austen’s sixth and final novel, with Dakota taking on the role of Anne Elliot, Austen’s oldest heroine, “who, at 27, finds herself living with insufferable relatives and pining after a lost love,” says Netflix.

Here’s everything we know about Persuasion so far:

So, what is the film about?

Persuasion is based off Jane Austen’s final novel. The story follows Anne Elliot, played by Dakota Johnson, a 27-year-old woman whose family rented out their home to an Admiral and his wife. Anne falls in love and gets engaged to the wife’s brother, Frederick Wentworth, played by Cosmo Jarvis. Their engagement gets broken off and seven years later they meet again.

Director Carrie Cracknell says the film will stay true to the original novel, but will offer a “modern, witty approach” to the telling of the story. The official synopsis reads: “Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth – the dashing one she let get away – crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.”

Who is in the cast?

The cast is AMAZING. Dakota Johnson has been cast in the lead as Anne Elliot. Alongside Henry Golding, Richard E. Grant, Suki Waterhouse, Cosmo Jarvis, and Edward Bluemel.
