Dearest Reader, the Bridgerton spin-off all about Queen Charlotte is officially upon us, and lots of details have been shared about it – including a full cast list. The series was announced a while back, following the success of season one of Bridgerton.

Netflix has announced that whilst the show has not yet been titled, it is “officially headed your way” and it features some other familiar faces from the show, too. The show is written and produced by Shonda Rhimes, with Tom Verica and Besty Beers also executive producing. Here’s everything we know so far.

The spin-off about Queen Charlotte is a prequel to the main Bridgerton show, all about her story

The Queen Charlotte spin-off is a prequel to Bridgerton, centring completely around her Majesty herself. We will learn all about her early life, her origins, love story and marriage with King George – and the societal shift which followed this. Young Queen Charlotte found herself betrothed to King George against her will, and has to quickly navigate palace life.

The official longline from Netflix says the series will be “centred on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power.” It continues: “This Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

So, who is the cast of the Queen Charlotte spin-off?

Obviously, nobody can play our iconic queen better than Golda Rosheuvel, who is back in the role for the spin-off series as well. Because the show follows Queen Charlotte’s early life, India Amarteifio (Line of Duty) joins the cast as a young Queen Charlotte. Some familiar Bridgerton faces also starring in the show are Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury. Hugh Sachs also features as the Queen’s right-hand man, Brimsley.

The full cast includes Michelle Fairley (Gangs of London), Corey Mylchreest (Sandman) and Arsema Thomas. Michelle Fairley takes on the role of Princess Augusta, a royal determined to do whatever it takes to maintain her family’s power. Mylchreest will play Young King George, described as “handsome, charismatic, and a bit of a mystery,” and Thomas will step into the character of the Young Lady Danbury, who becomes a guiding light for the new queen as she grows into the powerful woman we all know and love from the Bridgerton series.

Rounding off the cast is Sam Clemmett (The War Below) as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty) as the Royal Doctor and Cyril Nri (Cucumber) as Lord Danbury.
