It’s a British teenage girl’s rite of passage to walk in, sweepingly browse through the Pinterest-style shirts, jeans and dresses, glance at the price tag and go home in tears. Maybe try a few things on if you’re looking to sob even more.
Up until a couple of years ago, the only thing that separated Zara from stores like New Look was the eye-watering price tag. But one day, their marketing team and social media managers decided to step up – introducing the world to chaotic Zara poses.
All of a sudden, people began to notice the unconventional way the clothing was modelled on their website. Forget standing hip-on-hand against a white background; these women were climbing up on tables just to model a simple pair of shoes. The Zara poses became weird and gimmicky pretty quickly – but they got people talking, and other online brands have even started to copy their strategy.
An Instagram account known anonymously as “Awkward Zara” (@awkwardzara) has been posting some pretty awful Zara poses along with botched products and funny reviews. The account, which has over 65,000 followers, has brought even more awareness to Zara’s website.
Maybe we’re feeding into all this by talking about it ourselves – but honestly? It’s funny. So here are 22 of the all-time worst Zara poses for your enjoyment:
