Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker is making a Netflix mockumentary about 2020

And Hugh Grant is starring in it

Hugh Grant has confirmed Charlie Brooker is making a 2020 mockumentary special for Netflix and he will star in it.

Speaking to Vulture about The Undoing, Hugh said he was working on a project in which he plays a historian who is pretty repellant.

He said: “I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually. Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year.

“I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”

Since 2013 Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has done an annual episode of his Wipe series on BBC2. The episodes usually take the piss out of news, politicians and cultural moments.

In the middle of the pandemic he created “Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe” which was a 45 minute special about the pandemic.

Deadline confirmed Charlie Brooker is now working on a new Wipe about 2020. It’s not currently known if the usual talking heads from Wipe, Philomena Cunk and Barry Shitpeas will also appear in the special.

Netflix hasn’t shared any details about the Charlie Brooker special and there’s currently no release date but hopefully it’ll be soon as no one wants to watch about the depressing year that is 2020 in 2021.
