This is how old the cast of Sex Education on Netflix are in real life

Sex Education is now on its third series, and we’re all still as hooked on the bunch of teenagers navigating their way through school and learning the ins and outs of sex as we were the first time we met them. It’s relatable, it’s tragic and it’s perfect binge watch TV. But how old are the actors who play the teens in real life? Are the ages of the Sex Education cast really accurate?

The characters they play in Sex Education have ages ranging from around 16 to 17. Here’s how old the cast members all actually are in real life.

Asa Butterfield – 24

Asa Butterfield, who plays the lead role of Otis Milburn, is 24 in real life and was born in April 1997. He’s been acting since he was nine years old and you probably recognise him as Bruno from The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Given his character is around 17, there’s about a seven year age gap with Asa and Otis.

Ncuti Gatwa – 28

Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Eric, is definitely not a teenager in real life. He’s 28-years-old and was born in Rwanda in 1992. There’s an 11 year age gap between him and Eric.

Emma Mackey – 25

Leeds grad Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve, is actually 25-years-old. She was born as Emma Margaret Tachard-Mackey and she’s French – Emma was born in Le Mans in 1996. She has a nine year age gap with Maeve.

Patricia Allison – 26

Patricia Allison plays Ola in Sex Education. In real life she is 26 and was born in London in 1994.

Aimee-Lou Wood – 26

Aimee, who plays Aimee, is 26-years-old in real life. She was born on the 2nd November 1995 and Sex Education on Netflix is her first major acting role but she’s done a lot of theatre work in her career.

Connor Swindells – 24

Connor Swindells plays Adam. In real life his is 24-years-old and is a model, actor and former boxer. Connor and Aimee-Lou Wood were dating in real life, but have recently split.

Kedar Williams-Stirling – 26

Kedar Williams-Stirling plays Jackson in Sex Education. He’s 26 in real life and already has an impressive CV of past roles. He was in Shank, Montana and in Wolfblood on CBBC.

Tanya Reynolds – 29

Tanya Reynolds, who plays Lily, is also one of the eldest members of the Sex Education cast who play the teen roles. She’s a year older than Ncuti, at 29. Tanya was born on the 4th November 1991.

Mimi Keene – 23

Mimi Keene plays Ruby and in real life is 23-years-old. You might recognise her as she played Cindy in EastEnders. She was born on the 5th August 1998.

Sami Outalbali – 22

22-year-old French actor, Sami Outalbali, plays Rahim in Sex Education, having joined the show for season two. Rahim was one of three new cast members in that season, and soon became a love interest for Eric. In real life Sami lives in Paris and has been in a number of French titles. He’s the youngest main cast member in Sex Education.

Chinenye Ezeudu – 25

Chinenye plays Viv in Sex Education. She also featured in Netflix series The Stranger. There’s a nine year age gap between her and her character in the show.
