We asked ChatGPT for a Lincoln summer bucket list and here’s what it said

Can we really trust AI’s advice for the perfect Lincoln summer?

As deadline season draws to a close (thank goodness!) we can finally look forward to sunny summer days in Lincoln. Whether its your first summer in Lincoln and need some tips or last and you want to go out in style, ChatGPT has you covered (apparently).

So, here’s a list of what our AI friend suggests for the “perfect Lincoln summer bucket list”:

1. ‘Climb Steep Hill and explore Lincoln Cathedral’

Now we all know the torture of Steep Hill, especially with the summer sun scalding your skin. ChatGPT wants us to “turn this classic tourist move into a mini fitness challenge”. It suggests a race up the hill, with an ice cream as a reward at the top.

Not sure about the race, but we can definitely get behind a sweet treat and amazing views.

2. ‘Brayford Pool picnic and pedalo session’

First of all, ChatGPT suggests we “chill on the grass” with snacks and a speaker. Hate to break it to you babes, but the tiny bit of grass next to the Brayford is guarded by geese. As long as you don’t mind the constant fear of being stared down by some angry wildlife, go for it.

Second of all, is it just us or have you never seen a single pedalo on the Brayford? We should apparently rent one out and “vibe out on the water”. If this is a thing we can do, we’re so down. ChatGPT is definitely on to something there!

3. ‘Sunset at Lincoln Castle Walls’

Summer is the perfect time to take in the gorgeous views from Lincoln Castle’s walls. ChatGPT said: “The views are unbeatable, and it’s a prime Instagram spot.” Did it lie? This we would walk up Steep Hill for!

4. ‘Indie pub crawl (uphill to downhill)’

This is a Lincoln student’s go-to weekend activity. Add the sun and you’ve got the best summer evening ever! ChatGPT advised us to “hit up places like The Strait and Narrow, The Cardinal’s Hat, and Bierkeller for a quirky crawl with mates.

Now, we do not need to be reminded of this year’s greatest loss in Lincoln (we miss you Bierkeller). Thanks for that one, ChatGPT! It did have the right idea though. We’d add in places like The Royal William if you’re about a cozy pint by the water.

5. ‘Moonlight cinema at the Arboretum’

Now, we were super excited by this suggestion but we have to break your hearts: This isn’t a thing!

Don’t despair, though. Trusty old Google let us know that we can still have our cozy outdoor cinema experience at Lincoln Castle. Its showing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia over the summer. You can get tickets here.

6. ‘Lincoln ghost walk (with drinks after)’

The summer is the perfect time to do Lincoln’s ghost tour, no winter chill in sight! ChatGPT said we should “book a ghost tour, then debrief (and de-spook) at a nearby pub”.

Uni students like us definitely need a debrief with a pint, especially after the exam season trenches we’ve been in. ChatGPT definitely got the memo with this one!

7. ‘Plan a micro-trip from Lincoln’

Summer is the time for cocktail tins and the beach and Lincoln has so many good options easily accessible by train and bus!

ChatGPT gave us some great ideas for a day trip outside of Lincoln: “Skegness beach day, Nottingham shopping trip, or York culture sprint.”

You could even make a long-weekend out of it. There’s no deadlines stopping you anymore!
