Save those pennies: The top spots in York to use your student discount

Arguably one of the best perks of university, aside from the degree, is the student discount. Whether you’re shopping to distract yourself from uni work, grabbing an overly expensive coffee, or enjoying cocktails with friends, your student ID is your golden ticket to endless discounts. What’s not to love?

But you didn’t come here to find out about places offering a mere 10 per cent off, you’re after the best student discounts in York – the crème de la crème! Luckily for you, I have curated a list of the top spots in York where you can use your student card and save a fortune before you graduate!

Escape rooms

First up is Mindlock Escape Rooms. With unique and fast paced escape rooms for up to 30 players, as well as providing a 15 per cent discount for students, this is definitely an activity to try. The discount is available Monday to Thursday and you can redeem it both online, using the code “Academic”, or in-store by showing your student ID.

Black Sheep Coffee

Next, a recent addition to York City Centre: Black Sheep Coffee. If you haven’t tried their blueberry matcha yet, you’re missing out! Head over on Mondays with your Black Sheep Coffee Unidays code and you can grab it for just £2. Not a fan of matcha? Don’t worry – the £2 drink deal also applies to other selected hot and iced drinks.

Another gem in York for food and drink, a location that I’ve only just discovered offers student discounts, is SPARK. It’s one of the best places in York to grab a cocktail and a bite to eat, and now you can save up to 20 per cent on food!

While ordering via the QR codes on the tables is tempting, be sure to head over to the vendors to show your student ID and snag those discounts. Be careful though, as some of its discounts are specific to certain venders and days only, so head to its website to find out the best day to go.

Las Iguanas

Moving up to 30 per cent off, Las Iguanas is the place to go. Its fantastic food tastes that much better when you get 30 per cent off food from Sunday to Thursday simply by flashing your Unidays code when you pay. If you’re more into their cocktails than food, why not try their bottomless brunch on Wednesdays for just £25.95. You get two hours of bottomless drinks plus a brunch dish to help soak up the cocktails.

Revs

I see you’re still scrolling. Was 30 per cent off not enough for you? Well you’re in luck. By verifying your student status with your university email, you can save 50 per cent off food at Revs. That’s right, 50 per cent OFF. And that’s not all – Revs also offers fantastic drink deals for students, including two for one cocktails and a double flavour and mixer for £3. Next time you’re out for food and drinks, Revs is a must try for saving big!

BrewDog

The 50 per cent discounts don’t stop there. With Student Beans, you can score 50 per cent off BrewDog beers and Wonderland cocktails at BrewDog. If you don’t use Student Beans, don’t worry – you can still claim 25 per cent off food and drink all day, every day, by showing your student ID. And trust me, Brewdog wings are INCREDIBLE!
