The trend has started in the last couple of days. People are sharing pop culture clips and screenshots with the caption as thing such as: “She celebrated her 19th birthday in Poland” and “they spent their 19th birthday in Poland”.

So, what does it actually mean to be “celebrating your 19th birthday in Poland”? Here’s the meaning behind the viral meme.

What does the ‘celebrating 19th birthday in Poland’ meme actually mean?

So, the meme actually has a very simple explanation. And you’ll kick yourself that you didn’t work it out from the memes you were seeing. Basically, people are talking about turning 19 in Poland, because this is the age people are tested to see if they are qualified to serve in the military.

According to a quick Google search, it is true. As per Global Security, in Poland, every man is required to undergo military qualification. This is a medical assessment to determine their fitness for military service. This happens at the age of 19. So, at this age is when you would typically get tested to see if you can serve in the Polish military. It isn’t for mandatory service, but instead a qualification check to categorise your fitness level for potential military service.

Now we’ve done the fact checking, it’s back to the fun bit: The memes. So, people are using this fact and posting videos and memes to “see if you can serve”. So in short, all the memes are of someone serving, hard.

I love it here.
