University of Nottingham study spaces: Tried and tested

Happy deadline season to those that celebrate x

If like me, you have recently become a victim of the November deadline season, you may be getting very friendly with your go-to library.

We are bringing you the study space options, so you don’t drive yourself nuts over the last couple weeks of term.

 George Green

I have spent my fair share of days sat in George Green, and I’m scared of how much of my student loan gets dropped in the café.

You can tell a lot about a person by their favourite floor, mine being D (any other answer is wrong), however all do have different things to offer.

I wish you luck trying to find a seat around lunch, although once you have lapped it seven times and finally found somewhere, this is a solid choice.

Hallward

As a STEM student, I am going to be honest, I try my best not to go here. The dim lighting and old design don’t do it for me although I know lots of people swear by here so if it is your thing – go for it.

 Monica Partridge

Aaah, Monny P, what a joy.

When I’m feeling a little delirious and have spent too long in George Green, this is a lovely choice.

Its bright open layout is refreshing, and I can even get my work-out of the day in by taking on the stairs – what a bonus.

If you’re organised enough to book a room, it’s a great way to lock in and get some work done however prepare for the universal humbling experience of awkwardly getting kicked out after your hour.

Waterstones

Getting sick of the library? Same, don’t worry.

When I want to treat myself, I venture into town to Waterstones to get a little coffee and a sweet treat – it’s self-care darling.

After a browse around the books and reminding myself that I don’t need to buy a Jellycat, the café is a lovely place to get some work done.

If you are on day 10 of being in the same building, perhaps it is time to pay this a visit and step away from campus.

Djanogly Library

Although I’m still unsure how to pronounce the name of this Jubilee Campus library, I would argue it is an underrated choice.

The big windows give great opportunities for duck watching on the lake rather than doing your coursework, and it’s normally not too busy.

It is ideal if you don’t want to walk all the way to campus from Lenton so overall, a great library.
