Steven finally speaks out about Sabrina split and says Love Is Blind marriage is being annulled

Steven has finally spoken about his split from Sabrina, who he married during the first season of Love Is Blind UK. Since the reunion aired, Sabrina has been speaking a lot in interviews about what happened, but until now Steven has had much less to say.

At the Love Is Blind UK reunion, the couple announced that they had broken up since their wedding on the show, much to the surprise of us watching. For the most part, during the episode, Sabrina seemed to say the fault was with Steven. The couple said distance was a big reason behind their ultimate divorce – with Sabrina being based in Belfast and Steven in London. However, Sabrina called out Steven for his lack of effort and communication.

She said his communication with her was none existent, and it was always her visiting London and making changes to her life to help him. Steven argued otherwise and said that wasn’t actually the case, but didn’t give much more of an explanation of his side of the story. He briefly mentioned his finances, quitting his job and something going on in his family, which all played a part in it not working out between them.

Now, in an interview with the BBC, Steven has told more of his side of the story. He said he has “no regrets” about how he was during the experiment, and opened up about his “sad” split from Sabrina.

“We took a gamble, we took a leap of faith and it just didn’t work out,” he told the publication. He said he felt a “bit hurt” by how badly he came across at the reunion, in which Sabrina blamed the majority of their split on his behaviour after the wedding. “I know who I am and my friends and family know and that’s all that matters,” Steven added.

Steven said he felt mixed emotions watching their journey back when Love Is Blind UK was released on Netflix, knowing what the outcome had been. “There’s the joy in watching me fall in love again, but then there’s also a lot of questions being asked as to where did it all go wrong and reliving the end result,” he said.

Speaking about how distance did play a large part in their ultimate split, he said them living far apart made “small problems become bigger problems” and added: “We separated and it just didn’t work, we weren’t compatible in real life.”

He said: “I’ve been trying to find the beauty in the experiment… but obviously there are some sad times in there obviously knowing the outcome.”

Speaking in a separate interview about how the breakup has affected her mental health, Sabrina said she has been diagnosed with depression since, and is still in therapy now. “It was incredibly difficult. It had a really bad effect on me emotionally, mentally and physically,” she said. “I was diagnosed with depression, I had a lot of anticipatory grief for the life we were meant to have together.”

The couple are now seeking an annulment.
