Tourist collapses after being bitten whilst trying to get a picture with King’s Guard horse
Ouch!
A video is going viral of a tourist who appears to have collapsed to the floor following being bitten by a King’s Guard horse. The woman was trying to get a photo with the horse, and it’s pretty widely known that you shouldn’t get too close, or touch the animals whilst they are working.
A video taken by Buska in the Park and posted to YouTube shows the incident, which leaves the tourist on the floor with a visible injury to her arm. She can be seen falling to the floor outside the Household Cavalry Museum in London, where she approached the soldier on a horse to get a photograph.
The video is from Sunday, and the horse takes a full on chomp on her arm, over the sleeve of her Pink Floyd t-shirt. She then heads off back into the crowd of shocked onlookers who try and calm her down.
The King’s Guard appears to signal to the man filming the moment, before he says: “Can you go and get the police officer?”. Police can then be seen arriving after the incident, to help the woman.
Videos of people getting too close to the horses go viral fairly often, and members of the public are warned not to get to close, as it is the animal’s jobs to protect where they are stationed.
A warning sign is visible next to the guard in the clip, and it instructs the public and tourists to be aware the horses may kick or bite, and not to touch the reins. “Beware. Horses may kick or bite. Don’t touch the reins. Thank you,” the signs read.

The clip of the tourist being bitten by the King’s Guard horse has also been widely shared on Twitter, with people discussing where fault lies in the incident. Many have said the soldier should have given some warning to her, whilst others have argued it’s made very clear to not approach.

One person said: “These horses perform their duty everyday in a high stress environment. Some do not tolerate close contact well, especially after so many people insist on getting in their faces and blocking their line of sight. Thankful this woman didn’t get hurt worse, I’ve seen horses pick up full grown rams and toss them like nothing. Ouchy…get better soon.”
Straight after, more people go immediately in for their photo opportunity like nothing ever happened. It’s believed the woman did not need hospital treatment.
