Just a load of franchises crying out for the Hogwarts Legacy style game treatment

Give me Hogwarts Legacy but in the world of Buffy I BEG

| UPDATED

Hogwarts Legacy is the kind of experience fans of a franchise dream about playing. A game for you to tell your own story in a massive world with a character you can create from scratch, made with love and an insane amount of detail to explore and appreciate in your playthroughs. Of course, with the debate around its creator raging on – many gamers or former fans haven’t and won’t play the game. Here are some other franchises that I think could lend themselves into a Hogwarts Legacy style experience, and the kind of games that they could be like…

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Not a want but a need. Imagine the post-season seven world where Buffy made everyone who could be a slayer INTO a slayer? You make your own Slayer in that world and fight demons and vampires or go rogue a la Faith! It would be perfect.

We’ve already had great console Buffy games so that kind of combat and third per

Star Wars

I’m thinking like a full, interplanetary open world game where you can be whatever kind of Jedi or Sith you wish. Flying to different planets, going on adventures, bounty hunting… You name it.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Picture it. You can create whatever kind of hero or villain you want from all different powers in the different comics and films. You can be a hero or a villain! Destroy cities or save them! And other members of the MCU can crop up to fight with you or against you? Honestly hire me at a game developers immediately.

Stranger Things

A rogue one but stay with me. Imagine you get to be one of Papa’s experiments and you break out? I want 80s open world carnage! I want an alternate timeline adventure! SOMETHING!

The Walking Dead

A lot of zombie games exit, and a fair few Walking Dead games exist – but where is the meeting in the middle of these two? I don’t want point and click zombie action, I want a big character story in an open world map where I can make my own survivor, join settlements, fight humans and zombies alike! Games like Hogwarts Legacy have shown there’s room for big licensed games to still be acclaimed and detailed – so give us it!

Hogwarts Legacy has been controversial and has garnered criticism throughout its development due to transphobic remarks from franchise creator JK Rowling made since 2020. Avalanche, the developers of the game, have said she is not involved at all – but it is likely since she owns the IP rights to the franchise that she will profit from the sales.
