A DJ booth and a street artist have taken over the outside of the SU

It’s by the same app who hosted the huge party in Headingley on Saturday night

The outside of the SU has been taken over by Josh Howard, a well known street artist, and a DJ booth.

The booth and giant graffiti canvas is just outside the SU and is already attracting a crowd of people. The event has been set-up by Yubl, a new social media platform, which threw the huge party in Headingley on Saturday night.

Yubl were in Leeds on Saturday night promoting their new app, which is a combo of Whatsapp, Instagram and Snapchat. The party they hosted in Headingley had over 450 guests and even had a 20ft bouncy castle in the garden.

The graffiti artist is Josh Howard, a well known painter who started painting graffiti when he was 15 in Brighton, he then moved to London when he was only 17 where he studied at the prestigious art college Central St Martins.

Josh said: “I painted a lot when I was young, doing a lot of proper graffiti, it slowed down when I was at art college when I thought I should be a designer but in my maturity I realised I can do whatever I want.”

Josh has travelled the world working on campaigns in the Middle East and New York.

He’s worked with huge brands like Adidas, Nike and Selfridges and has even painted in Leeds before.

Mohsan Lin loves the high quality graffiti.

The Digital Media fresher said: “In general, the artwork behind actual graffiti is really sick. I’m not a fan of the people who tag buildings. But it is really amazing when they turn a wall into a piece of artwork rather than just vandalism. I might go and get his autograph actually.”

Jessica, an International Business and Japanese fresher thinks the fact someone so well known in the art world is outside the SU is insane and thinks it’s a good way for the app to get their name out there.

“It’s a really cool idea as it is something that will last and it represents what the app are trying to do today.”

Yubl will be handing out sweets and free merchandise outside the SU until 3pm.
