Three young inventors think they’ve got the next Dragon’s Den winning idea

They get to go to Vegas if they win

Three young inventors think they have found a way for you to avoid the boring things in life.

Pot Noodle is pitting the three students against each other to see who can get the most retweets.

The lucky winner will go to Las Vegas to showcase their idea to a panel of industry pros.

Bianca Polizzi, French and Italian, European Studies at Bath

Idea: A portable, mini-rechargeable kettle

PN1

Zimbabwe-born Bianca thought of her portable kettle idea after a big night out.

She said: “I was having a bad day when I got the idea. I’d been out late the night before and overslept.

“I had to rush to catch my bus and I didn’t have time for a coffee.

“On campus I spent over £6 on cappuccinos and that’s when it hit me – The Kettle Kup was born.”

Bianca, who was home-schooled, aims to bring thermal mugs up to date, as the cup will have a rechargeable battery pack – all you need to do is fill the cup with water and hit the switch to boil the water using the in-built kettle-like base.

Jerome Adams, Economics at Sussex

Idea: An alarm clock pillow

Sussex-boy Jerome’s idea stemmed from having to get the train to London a lot as his mum lives in Hertfordshire and he was always concerned about missing his stop if he fell asleep.

Jerome thought about creating a portable pillow made of memory foam that could attach to the back of a train seat for comfort.

He also thought about it having a vibrating bracelet as it’s embarrassing to have an alarm go off in public so that it can wake you up as you near your destination.

Jerome said: “You want to sleep on the train home from your commute but you’re afraid you’re going to sleep through your stop and you don’t want to set an alarm to take up in public.”

His motivation for entering was his passion for new ideas.

Jerome said: “I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I never wanted to be a banker, it doesn’t interest me at all, so I saw this competition and just went for it.”

Matt Kennedy and Katy Edelsten, Advertising at the School of Communication Arts

Idea: A full body dryer.

pn

Matt and Katy are the only duo in the competition with their full body dryer.

The dryer, which they predict can dry somebody from head to toe in 15 seconds, was inspired by Matt’s odd dislike of drying himself.

Matt said: “My girlfriend got angry with me one day walking around the house soaking wet so she started to dry me – my flatmate walked into the bedroom and saw her drying me and couldn’t believe it.”

The Pot Air 3000 isn’t Katy’s first success when she was younger she made a model of the Taj Mahal out of toast.

But for Matt winning this competition isn’t just about career progression.

He said: “I’m 29 so my family is verging on elderly, my mum and dad are over 70, so I will do it for them, I know it sounds soppy, but it will make them proud.”

A passionate Matt believes the body-dryer could be life changing for more than just him and Katy.

Matt said: “We have to win, it’s actually going to save people time, a portable kettle isn’t going to save you time, our idea is going to change the world.

“We’re going to put towels out of business.

“The more I think about it, we’re going to save the planet.”
