Two per cent of students at Loughborough are victims of violent and sexual crime

We’re one percent less likely than Trent students to be victims of violence

Almost two per cent of students at Loughborough University will be victim of violent and sexual crime according to new statistics.

The Complete University Guide took the number of crimes reported from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas. These crimes include burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences.

They found that Loughborough University had a total score of 2.9 per cent for all crimes reported. Almost two per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences, whilst burglary and robbery rates are at one per cent.

Loughborough scores one percent less than Nottingham Trent University and one percent more than University of Nottingham. 17 people were arrested in March this year after there was an increase in burglaries across central Loughborough. In March a man was stabbed on Oxford Street, a popular area for student housing.

These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
