Criminology cock up: Exam paper accidently reveals answers to its own questions

It was actually the draft copy

| UPDATED

A blundering Criminology prof accidentally answered his own questions in a third year exam last week.

Smug students were left rubbing their hands with glee when each question on the paper was followed by “A good answer will include” and mentioned specific examples they should use.

The final year open-book “Miscarriages of Justice” exam took place last Tuesday at 2pm in the Simon building.

Now flustered examiners have admitted the exam paper was actually the draft copy.

Simon building: why always me?

When opening the paper, students immediately thought something wasn’t right.

Final year Paige Tully told us: “It didn’t look right. I was slightly confused to have examples of what a ‘good answer’ would have immediately after the question.

“I guess it was quite helpful if they were the things you were already going to mention.”

But other students were less pleased: “Some people already had the answers of what they were going to write in their heads, and seeing these words that they didn’t understand just threw them off completely.”

As it was a new module there were no past papers to compare it to, and students were confused as to whether the question was meant to be that way.

Now bungling uni staff have been forced to email students an apology.

But students were left even more confused when the subject line read  “Miscarriages of Goods” when the module was actually called “Miscarriages of Justice”..

Now students have received an email from the university, apologising and confirming that the answers were not supposed to be in the question.

It said “unfortunately there was a mistake in preparing the Miscarriages of Justice examination paper, and you received a draft.”
