Northern Lights spotted over Edinburgh

Look north

It’s about as rare as a blue moon, only  far more beautiful, and it’s happening tonight.

The Northern Lights, or the Aurora Borealis as it’s also known, was spotted by many over Edinburgh tonight.

The eery blueish green lights are most often spotted over the Arctic, many people travelling from miles away to witness it. However tonight it can be seen from all over Lothian.

Edinburgh actually sits on the same latitude as Norway and Alaska, where it’s so often sighted. However it is rarely seen due to light pollution.

According to local meteorologists it may appear later on tonight, perhaps even stronger.
